The built in EQ is great but i recommend an Aux EQ to be added for pre and/or post mixing(for improved sound control), because lets face it its only a 3 band(great for general purposes but not flexible for those who want control). Also i recommend using premium cables for this mixer, to lessen the hiss and improve sound quality (you'll will never go wrong with heavy insulated and gold tipped cables). I had to find this out the hard way when my master XLR cables went out, i only had unbalanced 1/4 plugs tried to use it and the only channel that worked was the left channel(feel my frustration). Since i bought this i've used the auxillary buses for my subs but the more i crank the busses up the more the master volume gets pumped up, its not really a problem but its something i've been dealing with trying to figure out to eliminate such a undesired operation. But other than very small minor gliches(and im partially sometimes to blame for) this is a great Mixer.
