I first discovered Nightwish a couple of years ago and had been listening to their earlier work with lead singer Tarja Turunen. When Tarja was replaced by Annette Olzon I just couldn’t seem to muster up much enthusiasm for the group since what I heard with Annette in the lead just didn’t seem to measure up. Therefore I didn’t purchase Dark Passion Play and initially didn’t pay much attention to Imaginarium.

I eventually was exposed to some of the songs on Imaginarium via Pandora and liked what I heard enough to decide to purchase the CD. After playing the album a few times I had the urge to play it again, and again, and again. I started to realize that I was becoming addicted to the music like it was some sort of drug that I just had to have; I couldn’t stop myself from hitting the replay button.

Nightwish is more about the music than any one particular component such as whose singing lead. Annette is simply not the singer that Tarja is but her vocals fit the songs on this album well and she does a really good job. Her voice is better suited for some of the softer songs like Turn Loose the Mermaids and The Crow, the Owl and the Dove but she sounds terrific on all the songs really. This album emphasizes the symphonic component of the music more than any of their other works which I suppose is due to it being essentially a movie soundtrack. That being said, the only word that really seems to describe this album is epic. It’s big, complex, powerful and simply amazing.

Imaginaerum is a decent album but probably one of my least liked Nightwish albums. To be honest I have quite a love hate relationship with this band, I dig alot of their works but some of their stuff is well. Lets just keep this PC and say it's not for me. Brother Printer Mac Os X Drivers. I found myself bored of this album after only a few listens, and honestly besides a couple tracks nothing really stands out and really took me away.

If you are a major fan of Nightwish you will probably love it though. But songs like Slow, Love Slow for example make me want to press the next track button as soon as possible. I still like this band and I will always buy their albums unless they release some acoustic only deal.

However, Imaginaerum is a mediocre effort and failed to hold me. Songs I did enjoy: Ghost River, I Want my Tears Back, and Song of Myself.
