Hauptwerk - Smecno Organ
I would like to introduce a new Hauptwerk sample set. It is the model of the renaissance instrument of Smecno. Well, this organ was one of the first Sonus Paradisi made back in the Hauptwerk 1 times. If I am not mistaken, the initial release happened more than 7 years ago. Well, this is not the point of my forum entry.
The Smecno Organ Model for Hauptwerk was now released in the version 2. As expected it is based on completely new recording of the instrument, with all the advanced Hauptwerk features. Apart from other qualities which are well known to the Sonus Paradisi sample set users (unsurpassed clarity and cleanness of the sound, multiple versions of the sample set including the surround etc.) this sample set is very special in presenting two stages in the life of the instrument. This time we feature the state of the organ before and after the restoration which took place in the last year. The instrument was recorded before the organbuilders touched it, and after they completed their work.

The restoration included among other things the reinstallation of the baroque positiv and the wind pressure/voicing changes of the whole instrument according to the latest standards of the organbuilding historical science and best opinions of the organ experts. We are proud that we could sponsor the very last stage of the restoration with the money of the Sonus Paradisi project. This is where our Hauptwerk adventure helps the real pipes - and this has always been my dream. Now, in Hauptwerk, we prepared two versions (as usual): the original and the extended one. In the original version, the renaissance part of the instrument is featured. Here, by clicking a single button in Hauptwerk, the user may switch (toggle) the sound of the organ before and after the restoration, having so an immediate (on-the-fly) comparison of the change in the timbre of the pipes in the restoration process.
