Well, I checked my Event log before I left for work for all entries since I installed Windows 8 on this new build on 9th June and, sure enough, two similar errors showed up on Windows startup until the 11th June and then stopped as that was when I finally got both Windows 8 and the Media Center activated. There has been no error since until this morning.

I restarted my PC prior to leaving for work and although the boot up and Windows sign in process appeared normal, the same two errors cropped up again so I'm at a loss as to why they're happening now. I hardly used my PC yesterday apart from to download and play Deadpool from Steam and to update Stardock's Decor8 to the latest v1.05 beta build. Wellbutrin Nicotine Patch.

Other than PerfectDisk 12.5 Pro completing manual defrags of my D, E and G hard drives, which I started on the 1st and the errors do not show then anyway. Besides, which Windows is installed on my SSD, which is my C drive.

Windows is showing as activated, I even ran slmgr /dli and slmgr /dlv from an elevated command prompt and they reported permanent activation and 998 rearms left (presumably since I had to use two in order to activate Windows on this new build). All appears normal, Windows Update works (it downloads Windows Defender definitions everyday as well as when they're arise) and I have not seen any abnormal behaviour either. I am not getting any warnings to activate Windows either. These errors occur only when I log in to Windows. So do I just ignore the error?

I wouldn't have even known it was occurring if I hadn't looked at the Event log. Deadlands Reloaded Flood Pdf. The only thing I haven't checked is whether the activation is showing Windows 8 and Media Center, which is what I've been using for the past three weeks or so. Could this problem be with the validation server and not my machine or Windows install at all? I simply cannot understand how everything can be fine and dandy then the next day, BOOM!, an error shows up for no logical reason at all. I certainly did not change anything about my actual Windows install, they were no security updates installed that I'm aware of and the only thing that changed on my PC between the 2nd and 3rd was the download and installation of a Steam game, a Stardock app update and PerfectDisk 12.5 Pro completing a defrag of my non-Windows/boot drive (it was actually only my 2 TB E drive as the others completed on the 1st).

Event ID 8208, 8200, or 900 is logged in Windows Server. Classic User: N/A Computer: Server1.contoso.com Description: License acquisition failure details.

Nothing else was changed. If your machine still reports as being activated and genuine then I would say just keep an eye on it, it doesn't seem to have deactivated I know MS were blocking / changing Media Centre key activations once they realised pirates were getting genuine by using one of those keys after activating against a KMS server.

That second paragraph is interesting and news to me. My Media Center key is genuine as far as I know as I registered for it (since it was being offered free for a time) shortly after buying and installing Windows 8 Pro for the first time last October. After the hassle I had getting Windows 8 activated on this new machine (as detailed above), I then went on to activate Media Center and had more hassle getting that activated as well. I finally succeeded and both have been activated since the 11th June until I got this error this morning (3rd July). I wonder if Microsoft are accidentally blocking genuine Media Center keys by mistake? Seems a bit of a coincidence and the only thing I did not check this morning was whether my PC was still showing 'Windows 8 Pro 64-bit with Media Center'. Pirates Of Penzance 1994 Google here.
